Henry Minnett

Memorial service for Henry Minnett, 87, Chickasha, will be held at 11 am Thursday, Feb. 11, 1993, in First Christian Church. Charles Roberts will be officiating.

He was born Aug. 29, 1905, in White Bead, Indian Territory, and died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1993, in Grady Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Dr. O. S. Minnett and Mita [Harris] Minnett.

He married Norma Collins of Ninnekah on June 22, 1927. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1972.

He married Ernestine [Davis] Pool on March 29, 1973.

As a young man, he worked in the early day oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas. He was a machinist and owned and operated a greenhouse heater manufacturing business, the Southern Burner Company, from 1949 until his retirement in 1973.

He had many interests including collecting and restoring antique automobiles. He was a charter member of the Antique Automobile Club in Chickasha. His extensive collection of barbed wire is currently on display in the Grady County Historical Society Museum in Chickasha.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sudie Hollingsworth; one brother, Dr. John S. Minnett; one stepson, Clark Pool.

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Minnett of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law, Jule Sewell of Argyle, Texas, Mita Ehn of Oklahoma City, Gail and David Justis of Forest, Va.; one son and a daughter-in-law, Dr. John B. and Betty Minnett of Chickasha; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Jack and Francie Pool of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Orline Driskill of Wichita, Kan.; 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a private internment at a later date under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grady County Historical Society of the First Christian Church of Chickasha.
