Imogene Lavell [Forbis] Metcalf

Imogene Lavell Forbis Metcalf went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 23, 2003, in Chickasha. She was born March 25, 1926, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Imogene was 77 years old and had been a resident of the Chickasha Nursing Center for the past 35 years. After graduating from Chickasha high school in 1944, Imogene worked as manager and bookkeeper for Shields Ice Cream Company of Chickasha.

She was a member of the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. Imogene was a homemaker and poet; and she loved all types of music. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 28. Through all the years of trials and tribulation caused by this devastating disease, Imogene's courage, perseverance, sense of humor and dignity were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Noland and Chessie Forbis, and two grandsons, John Fika and Brent Metcalf.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Connie Breitwieser of Lewisville, Texas; one son, Don Metcalf of Hawley, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Sharon Strain of Galveston, Texas; four brothers: Don Forbis of Mena, Arkansas, Wesley Forbis of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Gary Forbis of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Keith Forbis of Springfield, Virginia; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 27, at 1:30 p.m., at the Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Robert Dye officiating.

Services will be under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home
