Lillie Lorene "Lil" [Jolley] Marshall

Funeral service for Lil Marshall, age 95, formerly of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2009, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jim Sheerer will officiate and Steve Parker will assist.

Lil was born the daughter of Z. G. Jolley and Ida Frances Poole Jolley on July 28, 1913, in Roanoke, Texas. She died on March 2, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

Lil attended Byers High School in Byers, Oklahoma where she played on the basketball team and graduated in 1930. After graduation, she and her family moved to Chickasha. After a short time, she moved to Denver, Colorado to attend business school, then returned to Chickasha.

During World War II, she moved to Dallas. After the war ended she moved back to Chickasha and began working for the Chickasha Cotton Oil Company as a secretary.

After retiring in 1958, Lil spent much of her time playing golf and bridge.

Lil was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ and for many years hosted a 4th of July gathering at her house north of Shanoan Springs Park to watch the fireworks display. Lil was also a member of the Chickasha Country Club, Ladies Golf Association, and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lucy Jolley Brackett, her husband, Jerry W. Marshall, daughter, Mary Lou Marshall, and two step-sons, John and Jerry Marshall.Survivors include: Son and Wife: James E. and Mary Marshall of Oklahoma City, Grandson: James E. Marshall, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Grandson: Michael Marshall of Oklahoma City, Grandson: Tod R. Massa of Richmond, Virginia, Granddaughter: Daphne A. Ewing of Springfield, Missouri, Granddaughter: Sara Catherine Boyle of Alpharetta, Georgia, Granddaughter: Pamela Marshall Ganne of Costa Mesa, California, Granddaughter: Stephanie Kyle Marshall of San Francisco, California, Grandson: Jerry Kevin Marshall of Kalispel, Montana, Several Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Oaks Church of Christ Food Fund.
