Joseph Solomon Long

J. S. Long, farmer of the Pocasset community was found dead in the back yard at the home of Joe Henry late Monday evening after he had been missing since Saturday afternoon.

The body was found by a son of Long, Paul Long who lives east of Pocasset and a son-in-law, Mr. Hodnett of Oklahoma City.

Funeral services were conducted at the Rose Hill cemetery, Tuesday afternoon by Rev. F. Hodnett of this city.

Long is survived by his wife Minnie Iona Miller. They were married in Lee County, Mississippi on September 18, 1897 and were cotton farmers.

Together they had 10 children: Villa Mae Long Butts, Savannah Leona Long Wood, Alta Augusta Long Betts, Vera Orene Long Chapman, Paul "Bud" Long, Samantha Ila Long Smith, Ola Pearl Long McDowell, Augie Modine Long Stevens, Gladius "Glate" Long Stevens, William Wade (Bill) Long. He was 56 years of age and had lived in the Pocasset community for several years.
