Billie M. [Stockton] Hunt

Funeral service for Billie M. Hunt, 79, of Chickasha will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Freeman officiating and Sister Alice Wendling assisting.

Billie Marie [Stockton] Hunt was born August 27, 1929, in Foss, Oklahoma the daughter of Andrew and Viola Stockton. She died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at her home in Chickasha.

She grew up in the Rush Springs and Chickasha area.

Billie married Harold Whitener; this union blessed them with one daughter, Carolyn. She later married Brinkley Hunt on June 31, 1963, in Chickasha. They were married 35 years before he preceded her in death in 1998.

Billie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and she loved to sing gospel music.

She was a Cherokee Indian and she was very proud of her heritage.

She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. She loved her church family and she was very active in the church until her health kept her from attending.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Brinkley; two brothers: Marlin and Virgle; three sisters: Norma, Mildred and Phelba Lee. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law: Carolyn and George Baker, of Chickasha; step-son, David Lee Hunt and his family; grandchildren: Sonya Fitch and Rodney and Gina Williams; great-grandchildren: Levi Fitch, Landry, Camden and Dayton Williams; special friends: Pat Bibb, Kay Baker, Ethelene Graves, Brother John Freeman, Clyde and Sue Bingham, Freda Brummell and Rebecca Bray; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
