Curtis Laverne Holcomb

Graveside service for Curtis Holcomb, age 87 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2007, in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Don Horton will officiate.

Curtis Holcomb was born the son of Luther Holcomb and Lettie Oscena Bills Holcomb on May 24, 1919, in Salt Creek Township, Iowa. He died on March 21, 2007, in Chickasha.

He married Irma Lumley on June 14, 1941, in Chickasha.

Curtis moved to Chickasha at a young age and graduated from Chickasha High School. He served from June 29, 1942 to December 23, 1945, in the United States Army in the 340th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II. He served in Germany and was involved in the liberation of various concentration camps.

After his military service, Curtis returned to Chickasha and worked as the Grady County land surveyor.

He later began his own surveying company. Curtis was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son, John Holcomb.

Survivors include: Daughter-in-law: Susan Holcomb; Grandchildren: Erin and Curtis Holcomb; Sister: Maxine Richardson; Several nieces and nephews.

Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
