Raymond Edmond Hart

Funeral services for Raymond Edmond Hart, 88, of Lindsay, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2009, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Hatfield officiating.

Raymond Edmond Hart was born September 26, 1920, in Ninnekah, the youngest child of Frank and Gertrude [Hefner] Hart.

He died Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Chickasha.

He grew up in Grady County, graduating from Ninnekah High School. After graduation, he took NYA Training at the Grady County Fairgrounds. He made an impression with his instructors and he was asked to become an instructor himself. He later went to Seattle, Washington where he was a journeyman in a foundry.

Raymond joined the U.S Navy in 1942 and he served until 1945.

Raymond and Anna [Cochran] Hart married on March 25, 1944. They had 61 wonderful years together before Ann preceded him in death in 2005.

After his discharge from the Navy, Raymond and Ann settled on the farm near Criner, Oklahoma, where they raised their family.

Raymond was well known and respected by everyone in the community. He truly loved his neighbors as himself. He was a farmer by heart and he also worked as a contract pumper for over 50 years.

Raymond loved horses, rodeos, reading and the outdoors. His family brought him great joy. He shared his love of animals with his grandkids.

Raymond was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Ann; four brothers: George, Albert, John, and Larkin; and two sisters: Lucille and Dora.

He leaves behind his four children: Edmond Hart, of Lindsay, Ray and Sherry Hart, of Washington, Patricia and Eldon Fleming, of Stillwater, and Caroleene and Keith Tooley, of Ninnekah; daughter-in-law: Linda Hart, of Chickasha; sister, Grace Scott, of Gainesville, Texas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
