Woodrow Jesse "Red" Harris

Graveside service for Woodrow Jesse "Red" Harris, 84 of Chickasha, will be held at 3:30 pm Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha.

Harris was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Naples, Oklahoma. He was the son of Guy and Bertha Hurst Harris. He died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 in Chickasha.

In his early life, Harris worked in the oilfield industry. He was blessed with the love of music and that became an important part of his life. He played the bass guitar and sang. He was part of the Chickasha Ragcutters Band, who for years was the stage attraction at the Rush Springs Watermelon Festival.

He was also a comedian and a composer. He had published "Cotton Pickin Boogie." He will be missed by many who knew him. Harris was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by: his wife Ellen I. Baker-Harris of the home in Chickasha; step daughter Donna Decker Gibson and husband Orvil of Chickasha; two sons Bobby Harris of California and Jimmy Harris of Utah; numberous grandchildren including one step-grandchild Dustin Decker of Chickasha.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
