Christine [Givens] Haney

Christine Givens Haney, 81, of Comanche died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Oklahoma City.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Prairie Hill Church of Christ, south of Duncan, with Mario Pineda officiating.

Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of McCray Funeral Home in Chickasha.

Mrs. Haney was born Sept. 16, 1919, in Tipton to Walter L. and Osa Maloney Givens.

She married William M. Haney on Nov. 26, 1971, in Oklahoma City and they moved to Comanche.

She grew up in Tipton and moved the Chickasha at the age of 12. After graduating from Chickasha High School, she moved to Oklahoma City where she lived from 1959 to 1971. During this time, she worked for Humpty Supermarkets. While living in Comanche, she worked for Halliburton Services from 1972, until her retirement in 1982.

Mrs. Haney was a member of the Prairie Hill Church of Christ. She was also a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority since 1955, and served as State President from 1964 to 1965.

Survivors include her husband, William, of the home; a stepdaughter, Anita Tilden of Amarillo, Texas; two nephews, James Givens of Rogers, Ark., and Don Underwood of Houston, Texas; and two step-grandchildren, Philip and Lynda Tilden of Amarillo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton Home in Tipton or the Westview Boys Home in Hollis.
