Lee I. Garrett


Funeral for Lee I Garrett, 75, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 6, 1981, in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Rev. Dor Horton of Epworth United Methodist Church will officiate, assisted by Rev. Russell Long, who will conduct Masonic rites.

Mr Garrett was born Jan 16, 1906 in Leadmine, MO. He died Saturday, Oct 3, 1981, in Grady Memorial Hospital.

He and Gazelle McCaughtry were married May 6, 1939, in Chickasha.

He recieved his masters degree in animal husbandry in 1931 from Oklahoma State University. He began work with the Department of Agriculture in 1934 in Salisaw. He transfered to Anadarko in 1936 at the Caddo County office. He was appointed farmer field clerk in charge of some 13 counties, which later became known as AAA. presently known as the Agriculture Stabalization and Conservation Service U.S.D.A. with headquarters in Stillwater.

He entered Work War II in February, 1943, being discharged in October 1945. He was a member of the 27th Evacuation Hospital Group in the European Theater.

After his discharge he made his home in Chickasha where he was a farmer and a rancher. He retired from the U.S.D.A.A. in 1968 after 35 years of service.

He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 126 in McCloud. He was a charter member of the Chickasha Elks Lodge No. 2125. He was also a member of the O.S.U. Alumni Association and the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Gazelle Garrett, of the home; one daughter, Mrs Gilda Lee Dunn of Houston, Texas; two brothers Alva E. Garrett and Lester O. Garrett, both of Oklahoma City; one sister Hazel Flouranoy of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Chickasha Masonic Lodge elevator fund. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lillian Gazelle [McCaughtry] Garrett


Funeral service for Lillian Gazelle Garrett, 93, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 25, 2002, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Lillian Gazelle Garrett was born September 7, 1908, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Floyd and Nancy Ella [Mathis] McCaughtry, and died Friday, March 22, 2002, in Chickasha.

Mrs. Garrett lived in Grady County all of her life. She was a former "Miss. Chickasha." She and Lee I. Garrett were married May 6, 1939. He preceded her in death October 3, 1981.

Mrs. Garrett was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Wedding Ring Class.

She was also preceded in death by 1 sister, Atha Rancier Sickman, and 3 brothers: James H. "Jack" McCaughtry, John Vincent McCaughtry and Floyd M. McCaughtry.

Survivers include: daughter, Gilda Garrett Dunn, of Houston, Texas; 2 grandchildren: Stephen Garrett Dunn, of Houston, Texas, Whitney Lee Dunn, of Houston, Texas; 1 great grandchild: John L. Falcon III, of Houston, Texas; 1 sister: Lavelle Sandford, of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
