Janie M. [Howell] Dollar

Funeral service for Janie M. Dollar, 80, of Chickasha, Oklahoma was held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at the Epworth United Methodist Church of Chickasha.

Janie M. Dollar was born October 29, 1925 in Temple, Oklahoma the daughter of Fred C. and Ethel [Weant] Howell and died Friday, September 1, 2006 in Chickasha.

She and Ira Dollar were married December 5, 1943 in Temple, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Dollar had lived in Madill from 1954 to 1967. She came to Chickasha from Ada in 1971.

Mrs. Dollar was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and had a life membership in the WSCS. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association and was president and ABWA Woman of the Year in 1976.

She served many years on the State Cancer Research Board.

Mrs. Dollar attended Southeastern University, Murray State College, East Central University, Oklahoma University and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

She was a member of the Marion Chapter #434 of the order of the Eastern Star and was a past matron of Madill O.E.S. #32.

She served with Grady Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as a Volunteer.

Mrs. Dollar was employed as a secretary with Sevier Funeral Home for 14 and a half years.

She was preceded in death by: two grandchildren: Matthew Dollar and Robert Dollar; one grandson-in-law: Craig Garvin.

Survivors include: husband: Ira Dollar of the home; one son: Mike Dollar and wife Rachel of Waynesville, North Carolina; one daughter: Nancy Jane Hadlock and husband Arlon of Mustang; five grandchildren: Jeff Dollar, Kristen Dollar Tilly and husband Matt; Tammy Garvin; Marsha Lovelace and husband Todd; and Sylvia Dollar; six great grandchildren; one brother: Fred C. Howell of Dallas, Texas.

Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
