Nannie Lee [Martin] Carroll

Funeral for Nannie Lee Martin Carroll, age 93, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Kim Domnick and Rev. Don Horton will officiate.

Nannie Lee Martin Carroll was born June 24, 1913 in Haworth, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of E. W. Martin and Rosena Ellen Melson Martin. Nannie died on November 17, 2006, in Chickasha. Nannie completed grade school at Haworth, junior high at Hugo, and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1931. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma College for Women in 1936. Upon graduation, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a supervisor instructor for 43 years, retiring in 1978.

She was married to John C. Carroll in November of 1936, and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1986. One son was born to this union, John Martin Carroll. Nannie was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and active in Cub and Boy Scouts. She was also a member of AAUW, 1938 Study Club, Philo Mathis Club and an active member at Epworth United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. W. and Rosena Ellen Martin, one sister, Jewel Lanier, one brother, R. G. Martin, and her husband, John C. Carroll.

Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law: John M. & Carole Carroll of Chickasha; Grandson: Chris Carroll of Phoenix, Arizona; Granddaughter & husband: Marti & Mark Opgrande of Edmond; Great-Grandchild: Caroline Opgrande; Sister: Hazel Mahaffey of Victoria, Texas.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church or University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.
