John Jestus Calaway

Services for John J. Calaway, 80, 1615 South Ninth, who died Sunday in Grady Memorial Hospital will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of Brown's Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Lacy officiating.

Calaway was born May 20,1890 in Topeka, Kan. and came to Chickasha in 1917 from Kansas. He was a retired switchman with 50 years service with the Rock Island Railroad retiring in 1960.

He married Miss Laura Donnellan in 1911. She preceded him in death in 1926. In 1933 he married Miss Ina Hedrick, who preceded him in death in 1964.

Calaway served as secretary of the switchmans union. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge where he was a 55 year veteran jewel, he served as Grand Scribe of Oklahoma, Grand Treasurer, past grand representative of Oklahoma, received the decoration of chivilary, meritorous service jewel, also past grand Patriarch of Oklahoma.

Calaway was also a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Richard H. Calaway, Granite City, Ill; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Shaw, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Erma Ferguson, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Dorothy Stauffer, Del City, Mrs. Jean Boothe, Tulsa; one brother, Calvin L. Calaway, Versailles, Mo.; also 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Home.

Ina Pearl [Hedrick] Calaway

A resident of the Chickasha area since 1901, Mrs. Ina Pearl Calaway died at 2 p.m. Saturday in a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home. Rev. Fred Miller, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating.

Mrs. Calaway was born Jan 28, 1892 in Salem, Ind. and came to the Chickasha area in 1901 from Indiana.

She was married on June 8, 1933 to J. J. Calaway.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge, active in all branches of Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, a member of the LAPM, and recorder for the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include her husband J. J. Calaway of the home at 1615 South Ninth; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Shaw of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Erma Ferguson of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Dorothy Stauffer of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Laura Jean Boothe of Buena Park, Calif.; one son, Richard of Granite City, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Idessa Craig of Norman and Mrs. Mary Price of Oklahoma City.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Brown Funeral Home.
