John D "Jack" Brown, Jr

John D."Jack" Brown, Jr. 88, a retired Fort Worth Insurance Executive and family man, passed away peacefully in his Fort Worth home on April 21, 2014, surrounded by his children.

John D Brown, better known as Jack, was born on August 24, 1925 to John D. and Lois Farrington Brown.

Jack was born and grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. He also attended the University of Oklahoma and proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Though career and circumstance landed Jack in Fort Worth, TX where he created a wonderful life, his heart always belonged to Chickasha, OK. His children, Sally, Susie, & John, were all born in Chickasha, and when the time came to retire, he chose his boyhood home on 18th Street. For Jack, it was always "Sooner Born & Sooner Bred." Fifteen years ago, Jack & Alice returned to Fort Worth to spend time with their children.

He was a gentle man and left a wonderful family legacy. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.

His children include Sally Gilbert and husband Ray, Susan Dewitt and husband David, and John Brown and wife Moiri. His grandchildren include Sean McMahon, Allison Brown, Hollye Gilbert, Nicklas Gilbert, Dylan Dewitt, and Kevin Dewitt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Terrell Brown, his brother, Harry Brown, his sister, Sarah Mitchell, and his brother-in-law, Col. Ernest Terrell.

Survivors include all of his children, grandchildren, brother Bill Brown and wife Melva June, sister-in-law, Allene Terrell and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
