Katherine Lois McCrary [Horne] Box

Funeral services for Katherine Lois Box, 70, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2006, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Michael Oberlender officiating.

Katherine Box was born February 1, 1936, in Chickasha, the daughter of William and Ann [McCrary] Horne. She died August 29, 2006, in Oklahoma City.

She grew up in Chickasha . She attended Chickasha Public Schools, graduating from Chickasha High School in 1954. She attended Oklahoma University for one year. On January 3, 1956, Katherine married Jerry Box. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Katherine was a wonderful wife and mother, always putting her family first. She raised her three daughters with love, support and encouragement. She was an active mom, and always took the time to take part in each of her daughter's activities and school functions.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, golfing, and playing bridge. She was a member of the First Christian Church, past president of the Chickasha Community Theater, past president of the Ladies Golf Association at the Chickasha Country Club, and a member of the Bridge Club.

She was preceded in death by both parents; sister, Patricia Rogers; brother-in-law, James Rogers; and aunt, Bonnie Horne.

Survivors include husband, Jerry, of the home; three daughters and son-in-law: Ann and Dick McCalla, and Sara Jane Box, all of Chickasha, and Susan Norris, of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Matt and wife Jesseca McCalla, of Edmond, Nate McCalla, of Chicago, Illinois, and Alison McCalla, of Oklahoma City; brother and sister-in-law: Bud and Mona Horne, of Norman; and uncle, John Horne, of Norman.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3000 United Founders Blvd, OKC, OK. 73112. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
