John Buford Munn

Funeral service for John Buford Munn of Chickasha, Oklahoma were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 1994 at the Bible Baprist Church.

John Buford Munn was born May 21, 1914 in Danville, Arkansas, the son of John D. and Mary Ann [Mills] Munn and died Monday, June 13, 1994 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Mr. Munn came to Chickasha at the age of 15 years from Arkansas with his parents. He resided in Chickasha most of his life.

He and Velma [Beaty] Hughes were married July 10, 1987 in Purcell, Oklahoma.

Mr. Munn was co-owner of the Yellow Cab Company in Chickasha. He also drove a cab in Lawton and Oklahoma City. He owned and operated his own trucking company for several years. He also drove for C. C. Pitts Trucking Company of Lawton.

Mr. Munn was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include wife, Velma Munn of the home; three daughters, Meta Faye Boswell of Brandon, Mississippi; Dorothy Lee Hodge of Fletcher, Oklahoma; Mary Ruth Smith of Cyril, Oklahoma. Three stepdaughters, Virgie Beck of Ft. Worth, Texas; Viva O'Grady of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; Vira Ross of Tuttle, OK. Two stepsons, Allen Hughes of Ft. Worth, Texas; Vearl Hughes of Choctaw, OK. Three sisters, Mary Ellen Russell of Chickasha, OK; Floy Dell Smith of Chickasha, OK; Audrey Cook of Chickasha, OK. One brother, R. V. Munn of Williston, Florida, Nine grandchildren 13 great grandchildren.

Interment was in Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
