Funeral service for Charles Herman Edwards, age 76 of Pocasset, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel.

Charles Herman Edwards was born the son of Clarence and Pearl Edwards on January 1, 1933, in Cowlington, Oklahoma.

He died on July 21, 2009, in Chickasha.

Charles grew up in Spiro, Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City area.

At age 19, he entered the United States Army and served in Germany. While in the army, Charles met Ola Marie Brown whom he married in 1953 in Wheatland, Oklahoma.

After returning from service in the Army, he and his wife lived in Del City. During this time Charles worked at Tinker Air Force Base where he was an aircraft mechanic with over twenty years of service. In 1978, they moved to Pocasset.

Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting, but especially loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and Leroy and one granddaughter, Christina Marie.Survivors include: Wife: Ola Edwards of the home, Daughter and Son-in-law: Kathy and Stan Smith of Waxahachie, Texas, Daughter: Sharon Clarkson of Alex,Son and Daughter-in-law: Gary and Cara Edwards of Red Oak, Texas, Granddaughter and Husband: Brandy and Josh Helm of Keller, Texas, Granddaughter and Husband: Miranda and Caleb Collier of McLoud, Granddaughter: Whitney Clarkson of Alex, Great Grandsons: Caleb, Jensen, Jayden and Charlie, Brother: Raymond Edwards of Rogers, Arkansas, Brother and Sister-in-law: David and Pat Edwards of Oklahoma City, Sister: Iva Sue Albin of Madill, Sister and Brother-in-law: Jean and Duane Bennett of Oklahoma City, Brother and Sister-in-law: Leonard and Suzanne Wood of Oklahoma City, Many Nieces and Nephews.

Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
