Calvin Bright

Funeral services for Calvin Bright, of Pocasset, will be Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.

Calvin Bright was born June 25, 1923 in Olustee to Mark and Alice [Collins] Bright. He passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010 in Stillwater, at the age of 87.

Mr. Bright lived in Grady County all of his life. He married Wanda Lee Steelman on August 23, 1958 in Minco.

Mr. Bright served honorably in the U.S. Navy for four years during WWII. During that time he saw combat in both the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters, including the Battle of the Coral Sea.

Upon his return, he worked at Tinker Air Force Base as an A/C Technician for 30 years. Upon retirement, he drove the school bus for Amber-Pocasset schools for many years.

Calvin had great love for all his friends and family and will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda and 2 brothers, Claude Bright and Alfred Bright.

Mr. Bright is survived by a son, David Bright and his wife, Marge, of Pocasset; a granddaughter, Rhea Bright of Pocasset; and a nephew, Jerry Manion.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita, Irene, Leota, Darlene, Shirley, Jack, Gary and various nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their unending gratitude for Mr. Hugh Brown and Ms. Melissa Kennedy of Stillwater. Hugh is the father of Mr. Bright's daughter-in-law. For the last two months of his life, as Mr. Bright declined past the point where his family could care for him adequately, Hugh and Melissa took him into Hugh's home. They saw to it that he was well taken care of and was afforded the chance to pass from this world with comfort and dignity. We would also like to thank Judith Karmen Hospice of Stillwater, who greatly assisted them.

There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Steelman Family home in Pocasset following the cemetery committal service.

Interment will be in the Pocasset Cemetery, Pocasset under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.
