Carl S. "Chief" Aduddell

Carl S. Aduddell was born to John "Bud" and Annie Aduddell on January 18, 1899 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, near Scipio.

His mother died when he was 8 months old. His father died when he was 15. After living with relatives for a while, Carl moved to Pocasset, Oklahoma. There he worked for Robert "San" Osborn, and made his home with San's family until he joined the Army in 1917.

He married San's daughter Maude on November 9, 1918.

After leaving the service in 1919, he returned to Pocasset, where he and Maude had three children. Their son Carl was born in 1920. Another son and a daughter were born in the early 1920's, but both died at birth, and are buried in unmarked graves in Pocasset Cemetery.

Since Carl's mother was 1/2 Choctaw and 1/2 Chickasaw, he was called "Chief" by his family and friends. Chief, Maude, and Carl lived in Pocasset, Chickasha, Enid, Muskogee, Oklahoma City, Saint Louis and Poplar Bluff, Missouri over the span of many years.

He worked for the federal government as a "revenuer" and the Frisco Railroad as an investigator. He was also an Oklahoma Peace Officer, and a member of the Oklahoma Sheriff and Police Officer Association.

He was a member of the American Legion, a Mason, Siloam Lodge 276, Scottish Rite, Guthrie, Oklahoma, and an India Temple Shriner, Oklahoma City.

After Maude died in 1948, he married Cragg Goetting on August 7, 1949. They divorced in 1956, and he married Orla Kim Simmons on February 7, 1958. Chief and Orla moved to Arizona, where he had a heart attack and died on December 5, 1961. He was preceded in death by his wife Maude, parents John and Annie, and half-brother Scyril. He was survived by his wife Orla, son Carl, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

Maude May Osborn Aduddell

Maude May Osborn was born to Robert Sanford "San" and Cordia Jane Osborn on August 19, 1891 in Missouri.

Sometime between 1903 and 1910, her family moved to Grady County, Oklahoma. About 1915, her father hired a young man named Carl "Chief" Aduddell. Since Chief was only 16 and both his parents were deceased, he made his home in Pocasset with Maude's family. Chief and Maude married on November 9, 1918. They had three children. Their son Carl was born in 1920. Another son and a daughter were born in the early 1920's, but both died at birth, and were buried in unmarked graves in Pocasset Cemetery.

Chief, Maude, and son Carl lived in Pocasset, Chickasha, Enid, Muskogee, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and also Saint Louis and Poplar Bluff, Missouri, over the span of many years. Maude was a devoted mother and took her son everywhere with her and her husband, even to conferences and meetings where he was the only child in attendance.

Maude died on September 10, 1948 in Oklahoma City, from complications due to diabetes.
