Elda [Koehn] Schmidt

Funeral service for Elda Schmidt, 96, of Cement, Oklahoma will be held at 10:20 a.m., Friday, January 21, 2005 at the Plainview Mennonite Church.

Elda Schmidt was born September 29, 1908 in Grady County, Oklahoma the daughter of Pete and Frannie (Schmidt) Koehn and died January 18, 2005 in Moundridge, Kansas.

Mrs. Schmidt was a life long resident of Grady County. She lived in Moundridge, Kansas for the last 1 1/2 years because of ill health.

She and Ben Schmidt were married September 24, 1938 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1967.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Plainview Mennonite Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cora and Anna Mae; two brothers, Walter and Marvin Koehn; three grandsons.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret and husband Kenneth Nightingale of Columbus, Mississippi; four sons, Edward Schmidt and wife Geneva and family of Cement, Oklahoma, Ronald Schmidt and family of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Clyde Schmidt and wife Rosie and family of Cement, Oklahoma, David Schmidt and wife Diane and family of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Lucas of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Velma and husband Lewellyn Watkins of Houston, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Eva Koehn of Rich Hill, Missouri.

Interment will be in the Plainview Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
