Dale Alan Smith

Funeral service for Dale Alan Smith, age 53, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in the College Heights Baptist Church. Rev. James Swain will officiate and Rev. Mick Hoggatt and Rev. Bryan Haynes will assist.

Dale Alan Smith: Believer, Husband, Father, Son, Educator, and Dear Friend. Dale went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2009, in Chickasha.

He was born the son of A. K. "Pete" Smith and Martha "Jayne" Morris Smith on August 17, 1955, in Moses Lake, Washington. Dale was raised in Tipton, Oklahoma.

He married the love of his life, Vickie Summers, on December 22, 1978, in Purcell, Oklahoma. Dale and Vickie made their home in Chickasha shortly after they were married and raised their three children, Alan, Allison, and Matthew.

Mr. Smith received his bachelor of education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and his master of education from the University of Oklahoma. Dale was an educator for thirty years. He taught at Amber-Pocasset Public Schools for seven years, he was the elementary principal at Alex Public Schools for nine years and for the last thirteen years was the superintendent at Friend Public School. Dale was a member of the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators and the Oklahoma Rural Elementary School.

Dale was a devoted, loved, and faithful member of the College Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Keith Smith; parents, A. K. "Pete"and Martha "Jayne" Smith and brother, Johnny Smith. Survivors include: Wife: Vickie Smith of Chickasha, Daughter: Allison Smith of Norman, Son: Matthew Smith of Moore, Stepmother: Donna Smith of Tipton, Stepsiblings: Christie Lovejoy and Misty Walker of Amarillo, Texas, Stepsibling: Bill David Walker of Waynoka, Stepsibling: Dayna Boman of Lubbock, Texas, Many Nieces, Nephews, and Dear Friends.

Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the College Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
