Boyd Kimmel Collins

Boyd Kimmel Collins, 83, passed away peacefully on the evening of Feb. 14, 2009 at the V.A. Center in Clinton after a lengthy illness.

He was born Nov. 20, 1925 in Byers, the son of A.G. and Nola Collins. He was the oldest child of six siblings.

He lived most of his youth in Waurika, where he graduated from high school in 1944.

He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on Oct. 29, 1944, served proudly in World War 2 Ship's Cook 3rd class, and was discharged honorable on June 24, 1946.

He married Donna Jo Stewart of Shamrock, Texas on Sept. 8, 1947 in Waurika. With this union they provided the world with four beautiful and successful children that they were so very proud of.

After his discharge from the military, he and his wife owned their own trucking business in Chickasha, where they resided from 1952 to 1971. In 1971, he and Donna moved to Edmond, where they lived until 1993, when they moved to El Reno.

His primary interest and hobby was traveling to rodeos where he competed in team roping and watched his daughters compete in barrel racing. He loved watching his son play baseball.

With his extra time he enjoyed all the trials and tribulations of having four children within four years of age. They made sure he did not know what was going to happen next or to whom.

He was an active member of the Trinity Baptist Church of El Reno. Within that church he had a great group of friends in Cliff, Virgil, Bill, Earl, Dave, Gid , Stan, and Keith. His children would like to thank you gentlemen for your kindness and love you showed him and giving him the capability to put Christ in his life.

With his death, he joined his wife of 59 years, Donna Jo, parents, A.G. and Nola Collins, brothers, Warren G. Collins, Robert Collins and Don Paul Collins, sister, Alease Dawson and grandson, Theodore Michael Brandle.

His immediate family who will have memories of him include one son, Kimmel Stewart Collins and his wife Debbie of Bixby, three daughters Nola Duncan and her husband Larry of Oklahoma City, Mari Collins and her fiancé John McAlister of Mustang and Marja McCart and her husband Doral of El Reno. He also leaves memories to four grandsons Heath Duncan and his wife Brenda, Kyle Duncan and his wife Brooke, Warren Collins, and Justin McCart. He also leaves behind his great grandson Zachary Heath Duncan. There is one surviving sister, Faye Moore of Ringling, and a great number of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly with an open heart.Services for Boyd were held at graveside at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Edmond, on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
