Charles Edward Akins

Funeral services for Charles Edward Akins, 60, of Laverty, will be held Monday, October 30, 1995, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Sikes of the Northside Church of Christ officiating.

Charles Edward Akins was born August 28, 1935, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the son of Lee Akins and Ethel Cocheran Akins. He died Thursday, October 26, 1995, at his home after a short illness.

He was raised in the Cement, Oklahoma area and attended school there.

Charles married Orlin Patricia Brown on December 21, 1953, in Hopeland, California. they lived in California for a short time before moving to the Chickasha area.

He was employed with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for over 36 years and also owned and operated a cattle ranch southwest of Chickasha, near Laverty.

Charles enjoyed his family, camping, fly fishing in Colorado and his horses. He was a lifetime member of the Northwest Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Orlin, of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, C. Wayne and Debbie Akins of Amber, one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Doug Plummer of Chickasha, four brothers, Ray Akins, Monroe Akins, Delbert Akins, all of Chickasha and Robert Akins of Sentinel, Oklahoma, seven sisters, Ruth Talbert, Frankie Smith, Lela Akins, Colene Talbert, Virgie Brantley and Margie Akins, all of Chickasha and Anita Sparks of Mangum, Oklahoma, three granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica Plummer of Chickasha and Cheyanna Akins of Amber.

Interment will be in the Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
