2 October 1909Maria [Tyre] Fitzpatrick
END COMES TO A PIONEER WOMAN Mrs. Maria Fitzpatrick, wife of Theo. Fitzpatrick, 222 Colorado Avenue, was called to her heavenly home yesterday evening at 8:30 o'clock, death following several weeks severe illness.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was 71 years of age, and the history of her life, all of which was spent in the Indian Territory, is an interesting one. Her parents were among the earliest pioneers in this country and she was one of the first white children born in the Territory, the date of her birth being July 3, 1838. At that time there were few white people in the Territory and the land was inhabited by redskins. Although at times there was plenty of the adventure one finds in frontier life, her childhood was rather lonesome, until in 1853, she was married to Theo. Fitzpatrick, a native if Ireland. To their union thirteen children were born. Seven of the children, four boys and three girls, and her husband, survive her. For over forty years the family has lived in the vicinity of Chickasha and for the past seven years has been located in this city.
The deceased was well known in Chickasha and the surrounding country and her many friends unite with the bereaved family in their grief.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Catholic church, and the body will be interred at Fairview.
