Margaret Elaine [Holt] Smith
July 6, 1931 ~ July 3, 2009


Funeral service for Margaret Elaine "Maggie" Smith, age 77 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009, in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Johnny Tims will officiate.

Margaret was born the daughter of Alexander Holt and Jesse Harmer Holt on July 6, 1931, in Calvin, North Dakota.

She died on June 29, 2009, in Chickasha.

Maggie grew up in North Dakota where she graduated from high school in 1949. She graduated from North Dakota State University with an associate diploma in nursing.

She married Whitney L. Smith on January 2, 1953, in North Dakota.

In 1959, they moved to Woodward, Oklahoma.

Maggie was a registered nurse for thirty-eight years in the Woodward Memorial Hospital.

In 1999, Maggie and Smitty moved to Chickasha.

She was a member of the Woodward Bible Baptist Church and later a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. Maggie was a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class, Christian Women's Club, devoted to the Fine Arts school, took pride in being a member of the counting committee, and greeter at the First Baptist Church.

Maggie loved preparing meals for volunteers and working in the gift shop for the Festival of Light. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Whitney on August 5, 1999, and her sister, Catherine Syverson in June of 2000.

Survivors include: Daughter: Abby Binyon of Blanchard, Daughter and Son-in-law: Merita and Dennis Beaty of Chickasha, Daughter and Son-in-law: Tammie and Ted Williams of Chickasha, Grandson: Bryce Binyon of Blanchard, Granddaughter and Husband: Bridget and RC Babione of Altus, Granddaughter and Husband: Whitney and Jon Molder of Chickasha, Granddaughter and Husband: Evva and Clint King of Blanchard, Granddaughter: Andrea Williams of Chickasha, Granddaughter: Kara Williams of Chickasha, Granddaughter and Husband: Kim and Randy Ulin of Blanchard, Grandson and Wife: Bryce and Julie Beaty of Pocasset, Ten Great Grandchildren, Sister and Husband: Evelyn and Lloyd Boldt, Sister: Johnie DeJarlis, Sister: Mary Gregor, Sister: Colleen Hamernik, Brother-in-law: Ole Syverson, Niece: Jennifer Case of Chickasha, Many Other Nieces and Nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
