Lila Belle [Cole] Sims
February 10, 1925 ~ March 31, 2012


Lila [Cole] Sims, age 87, of Chickasha, died March 31, 2012 in Oklahoma City. The youngest of 10 children of James and Agnes [Bloomer] Cole, she was born February 10, 1925 in Blanchard, Okla. Lila attended Sunnyside School and grew up in the Tabler area.

In 1943, she married James "Ji") Pleasant Sims while he was in the army at San Luis Obispo, California. The couple lived in Oklahoma, California and Ft. Worth, Texas. In 1957, Jim preceded her in death and she moved to Blanchard, Oklahoma with her two young children, Peggy and Jimmy, to be near family. She was a hairdresser and also worked at the University of Oklahoma in the cafeteria, where she was well-known for her tasty desserts.

Lila moved to Glenhaven Retirement Center in Chickasha, Okla. in November 2009. She enjoyed her family, cooking, playing bingo, making friends and spending time with her roommate Katherine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim P. Sims; all of her brothers and sisters; and one daughter, Clara "Peggy" Martin; She is survived by her son, Jim Sims and wife, Mary Ellen, of Blanchard, Okla.; granddaughter, Kimberly Kohler and husband, Heath, and their son; Kolton Kohler all of Vinita, Okla. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Glenhaven and DaVita for helping to care for Lila during the past few years and for her special friend Katherine Witte and her family for including her in their lives.

Services will be held April 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Eisenhour Funeral home, Blanchard, Okla. with Mark Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, Okla. Arrangements under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
