James David McBride
September9, 1874 ~ February 10, 1958


McBRIDE RITES AT 2 THURSDAY

Funeral for James David McBride of 1028 Colorado, a pioneer resident of Chickasha, will be at 2 pm Thursday in Sevier's Chickasha Funeral Home chapel with Elva Lee Teel, pastor of Ninth and Colorado Church of Christ, officiating.

Mr. McBride died at his home Monday afternoon. He has been in failing health the past two years.

Mr. McBride was born Sept. 9, 1874, in Searcy County, Ark. He had been a resident of Chickasha since before 1900. He freighted lumber from Oklahoma City to Fort Sill before the railroads were built.

He was an ordained minister of the Church of Christ and a member of the Ninth and Colorado church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. May Bell McBride of the home; four sons, V. H. McBride of Ponca City, Wayne of Riverside, Calif., J. D. of Syracuse, N. Y., and J. W. of Chickasha, six daughters, Mrs. Lillie Lanze of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Verna McBride of Ogden, Utah, Mrs. Nora Dillard of Chickasha, Mrs. Winnie Westmoreland of Hesperia, Calif., Mrs. Monteze Britton of Cordell and Mrs. Katheryne Pruitt of Hawthorn, Calif.; 28 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under direction of Sevier's Chickasha Funeral Home.

Mae Bell McBride
January 9, 1886 ~ May 30, 1967


Mrs. Mae Bell McBride, 81, 1028 Colorado Avenue, died today in Grady Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year.

She was born January 9, 1886 in the Choctaw Nation Indian Territory.

She had been a resident in the Meridian Community and Chickasha for 42 years. She was formerly of Wilburton.

She was married to James David McBride December 2, 1902 at Roff. Mr. McBride preceded her in death in 1958.

She was a member of the 9th and Colorado Church of Christ.

She is survived by three sons, V. H. McBride, Ponca City; J. D. McBride, Syracuse, New York; J. W. McBride, Chickasha, six daughters, Mrs. Lillie Lanze, San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Verna Axman, Santa Cruz, Calif., Mrs. Nora Dillard, Chickasha, Mrs. Winnie Westmoreland, Hesperia, Calif., Mrs. Montez Britton, Cordell, and Mrs. Katheryne Pruitt, Lomita, Calif.; 29grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren andtwo great-great-great-grandchildren.

Services are pending under the direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.
