Mildred James was born on February 2, 1929, in Fillmore, OKlahoma. She died on February 21, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral service for Mildred Elizabeth James, age 76, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2005, in the Sharon Baptist Church. Rev. Justin Ford will officiate.

Mildred James was born the daughter of George Washington Chaney and Mary Lee Smith Chaney on February 2, 1929, in Fillmore, Oklahoma. She died on February 21, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Mildred Elizabeth [Chaney] James
February 2, 1929 ~ February 21, 2005


Funeral service for Mildred Elizabeth James, age 76, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m. onFriday, February 25, 2005, in the Sharon Baptist Church. Rev. Justin Ford will officiate.

Mildred James was born the daughter of George Washington Chaney and Mary Lee Smith Chaney on February 2, 1929, in Fillmore, Oklahoma. She died on February 21, 2005, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mildred and her family moved to Chickasha in 1942. She married Clarence James on June 14, 1946, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma and they moved to Muleshoe, Texas. In 1953, they moved back to Chickasha. Mildred worked at various restaurants in Chickasha. Most recently, she worked at Eduardos. She also worked at local laundromats.

Mildred was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church and was involved in the bus ministry and Christmas basket ministry. Mildred was a member of the senior citizens. She loved hunting, fishing, camping and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Armenta Turner, and one brother, Herman Chaney. Her husband, Clarence Ray James, also preceded her in death on October 16, 1976.

Survivors include: Sister: Myrtle Marical of Roseburg, Oregon. Brother and Wife: W. L. and Lessie Mae Chaney of Ninnekah. Sister and Husband: Joyce and Keith Hurley of Chickasha. Brother-in-law and wife: Willie and Laverne James of Muleshoe, TX. Brother-in-law and wife: Herb and Gerry James of Duncan. Sister-in-law: Julie Locke of Texas. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, and Great Nephews. Host of Friends.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Baptist Church, % Children's Ministry, 2414 State Hwy. 92, Chickasha, OK, 73018.

Helen [Lemmons] James
November 15, 1916 ~ February 10, 2006


Funeral services for Helen James, 89, of Chickasha were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday February 14, 2006, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Johnny Wray officiating.

Helen James was born November 15, 1916 in Verden, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles Lemmons and Mattie [Lang] Lemmons.

She died Friday, February 10, 2006 in Oklahoma City.

Helen grew up in the Verden and Chickasha area. She attended Chickasha Public Schools

She was married to Forest Madison James. Together they owned and operated two home-style cooking restaurants in California. This developed into a love of cooking for her. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed sharing her delicious creations with her friends and the local businesses around Chickasha. She also loved the outdoors, so delivering her cakes and desserts was one of the excuses she used to be outdoors.

She was a member of the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. She loved going to church and spending time with her church family. She volunterred for many of the church activities and was always willing to help with any project. She was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army, and other local organizations.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband; both parents; and one daughter, Polly.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Wade James, of Chickasha and Allen and Ronda James, of Broken Arrow; and two granddaughters: Kelly Hewitt, of Norman, and Meghan Hewitt, of Tulsa.

Helen had too many special people in her life to mention individually, but as everyone that knew her already knows, anyone who knew her were the luckiest people in the world, because they had the opportinity to meet and know the greatest lady in the world.

Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Bettie Lou [Johnston] James
June 19, 1946 ~ September 26, 2008


Funeral service for Bettie Lou James, age 62, of Chickasha will be held at 2 pm on Monday, September 29, 2008, at the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate and Rev. Alice Wendling will assist.

Bettie Lou James was born the daughter of Carl C. Johnston and Ollie Mae Weaver on June 19, 1946, in Coalgate, Oklahoma. She died on September 26, 2008, in Oklahoma City.

Bettie lived in Lindsay, Oklahoma, as a small child. She later moved to Verden where she lived for many years. Bettie then moved to Chickasha, where she married Patrick James on June 22, 1979. Most of her life, Bettie worked in the nursing field in Chickasha. Bettie was a member of the Full Gospel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Dewayne Parham. She is survived by her husband: Patrick James of the home; daughter and husband: Anita and Terry Rumley of Cement; son and wife: Roger and Dianna Parham of Chickasha; sister and husband: Margaret and Don Cooper of Seminole, Oklahoma; brother: Dean Johnston of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Larry Morrison.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
