Floyd F. Hobson
May 5, 1911 ~ January 21, 1998


Funeral for Floyd F. Hobson, 86, Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 1998, in the Verden United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Bortell officiating.

He was born May 5, 1911, in Denton Texas, the son of John Burnley Hobson and Ada Rogella Baxter Hobson. He died Wednesday, January 21, 1998, in Chickasha.

Floyd grew up in the Denton, Texas, area where he attended public schools and graduated from Denton High School. After high school graduation, he attended North Texas State College.

Floyd married Fanella Swim on September 1, 1940, in Denton, Texas.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1946 where he was a member of the 90th Infantry Division, serving during World War ll. He was honorably discharged after the war in 1946.

Floyd had been employed in sales most all his life, selling hardware, automobiles and auto parts. His last employment was with the Taylor Yearbooks as a representative where he retired after 15 years with the company.

After retirement in 1978, Floyd moved to the Chickasha area to be near his family.

Floyd was a past member of the Odd fellows and was currently a 90th Infantry Division association. He was a founding member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2205 in Denton, Texas.

He was a member of the Verden United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Joe W. Hobson of Irving. Texas; one daughter and a son-in-law, Becky and Roy McDonald of Chickasha; two sisters, Alma Hill of Dallas, Texas, Geneva Faggard of Poteet, Texas; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Funeral for Floyd F. Hobson, 86, Chickasha, was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 1998, in the Verden United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Bortell officiating.

Music was provided by organist Lucille Nelson, pianist Annice Hill, and soloist Andrea Hobson.

Casket bearers were Jack Thomas, Adrian Wolford, Carl Nelson, Don Page, Gilbert Unruh and Bill Hill.

Interment was in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Services for Fanella Hobson, 75, of Cement, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, 1992 in Verden Methodist Church.

Mrs.Hobson was born March 2, 1917 in Grady County and died Friday, April 3, 1992 in Chickasha.

She and Floyd Hobson were married September 1, 1940 in Denton, Texas.

Mrs. Hobson was a retired registered nurse. She was a member of Verden United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hobson was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Swim and Corda Cocheran Payne.

Survivors include her husband of the home north of Lake Burtschi; one daughter, Rebecca McDonald of Cement; one son, Joe W. Hobson of Irving, Texas; three brothers; Bill Swim of Little Rock, Arkansas, Eugene Payne of Fort Cob and Rev. Clifford Payne of Wichita Kansas, one sister, Jimmie Darlene Wolford of Mustang; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.
