Leonard Newt Boydston
April 22, 1929 ~ March 26, 2015


Former Bray resident, Leonard 'Newt' Boydston, 85, of Edmond, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the Bailey Community Church, with Bro. Steven Boydstun officiating. Services will be under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Newt was born Monday, April 22, 1929 in the Doyle Community to William McKinley and Bertha Willie [Wainscott] Boydston.

Newt grew up and attended school at Doyle and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Upon returning from the war, he met Billie Sue Archer at the White Rock Cafe in Marlow. He and Billie Sue got married in Marlow on December 22, 1952,

She preceded him in death on July 30, 2014.

They lived in Phoenix for a short time, before returning to Oklahoma.

Newt worked for Phillips Petroleum as a field mechanic, retiring after many years of service.

After retirement, he and Billie Sue moved to the Oklahoma City area to be near their children and grandchildren.

Newt loved to fix things and tinker around. He enjoyed driving his tractor and working in his vegetable garden.

Newt was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan and a member of the Bray Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include, son, Gregory Boydston of Edmond; daughter, Denise Houser and husband Keith of Edmond; grandchildren, Shantel Carr of Oklahoma City, Stephen Houser of New Orleans, Louisiana, Liz Mach of Edmond; great-grandchildren, Luke and Blake Worsham of Oklahoma City, Ivy Mach of Edmond; sisters, Jewel Millspaugh of Gilbert, Arizona, Mary Jones of Chandler, Arizona, Barbara Ann Wright of Cottonwood, Arizona; many nieces and nephews; a host of friends.

Newt was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Jones; two brothers, Cecil Buck Boydston, Newman "Dink" Boydston.

Billie Sue [Archer] Boydston
May 22, 1934 ~ July 30, 2014


Former Bray resident, Billie Sue Boydston, 80, was called from this earth to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Oklahoma City.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the Bailey Community Church, with Rev. David Standifer officiating.

The family will have a private family burial.

Services will be under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Billie Sue [Archer] Boydston was born Tuesday, May 22, 1934 in Bailey, to John Thomas and Hester Evelyn [Todd] Archer. She was the youngest of eight and raised on a farm in Bailey.

After graduating from Cox City High School she began working at White Rock Cafe where she met "the blue-eyed love of her life," Leonard "Newt" Boydston.

After marrying December 22, 1952, in Marlow, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where their first child, a daughter, was born.

They returned to Oklahoma in 1955 where she raised her family, which later included a son.

Billie Sue dedicated her life to serving her family and was a beautiful example of what it means to be a wife and mother.

Her hobbies were gardening, cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, and entertaining. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed making clothing for her daughter and granddaughters and also draperies, curtains, and other items to decorate her home. Billie Sue was famous for her bread & butter pickles, coconut pie, and Texas sheet cake. There was never a lack for home made treats and goodies in her home.

Her grandchildren remember how Nana loved to drive her heather Cadillac!

While living in the Bray community, she attended Bray Baptist Church where she was active in the Bible School and Sunday School Programs.

As her children grew up, she began working first as an inspector at a clothing factory in Lindsay, and also at Haggar Pants Factory in Duncan. Later, she worked for many years at the Bray/Doyle School.

After retiring, Billie and Newt moved to the Oklahoma City area to be near their children and grandchildren.

Billie Sue is survived by her loving husband, Newt Boydston of the home, daughter, Denise Houser and husband Keith of Edmond, son, Gregory Boydston of Edmond, three grandchildren, Shantel Carr of Oklahoma City, Stephen Houser and wife Celeste of New Orleans, Louisiana, Liz Mach and husband Chris of Edmond, three great grandchildren, twins, Luke and Blake Worsham, Ivy Mach, brother, Kenneth (Sambo) Archer and wife Mary Ann of Bailey.

Billie Sue was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Melton Archer, Harold (Shorty) Archer, (Boog) Archer, three sisters, Dorothy (Tooter) Selman, Edna Fay Dorsey, Helen (Sis).

Billie Sue will continue to live on in countless pictures, memories, recipes, and handmade items she leaves with her family.
