Graveside services for Raymond Lloyd Wilkins will be held at Shafter Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. No viewing will be held in accordance with his request.
Raymond was born January 22, 1936 in Lindsay, Oklahoma and he passed away January 14, 2007 in Bakersfield, California.
He was the youngest of six children born to Roy and Lorah Wilkins.
Raymond moved to Shafter with his family in 1941 and graduated from Shafter High School with the class of 1954.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, he worked for 7-up Bottling Company for twenty-three years before ill health forced him into early retirement.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Oda Ray Wilkins.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Myrtle; seven children, Sheryl Bonner, Robert Misener, Tony Wilkins, Terry Wilkins, Darrell Cowen, Michelle Wilkins and Emmitt Wilkins; two sisters, Nomie Searcy and Margie Carroll; brother, Delain Wilkins; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
