Funeral services for Van Holland, 85, of Purcell were held Sept. 3, 2005 at Lakeside Church of God in Norman with the Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Interment was at Maysville Cemetery under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mr. Holland died Aug. 30, 2005 in Purcell.
He was born Nov. 6, 1919 in Davenport, the son of Joe and Ada Emily (Anderson) Holland. He was reared in the Norman and Oklahoma City area, attending school at Bald Hill Elementary in the Springer, Okla., area. He moved to Purcell in May 2005 from Norman.
Mr. Holland enlisted into the United States Army Sept. 30, 1941 in Oklahoma City. He was honorably discharged Oct. 5, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
He was a self-employed welder and worked in the oil fields, Dennis Brunner Welding and CMI in Oklahoma City.
On Sept. 22, 1986 he married Dorothy (Rains) Rollins in Van Buren, Ark.
Mr. Holland was a member of the Lakeside Church of God in Norman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Elmer Holland, Emerald Holland, Hershell Holland, Bernice Welch, Opal Duke, Dorothy Ross, Jewell Harrison and Lee Holland.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Purcell; children, Bobbie Sue Luttrell and her husband, Terry, and Helen Bunn, all of Ardmore, Joe Holland and his wife, Susan, of Borger, Texas, Linda Crossgrove of Oneida, Tenn., and Sharon J. Dungan and her husband, Tom, and Larry Rollins and his wife, Debbie, all of Norman; one sister, Mazie Dean of El Reno; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Burn Jr., Steven Luttrell, Erick Luttrell, David Luttrell, Jeremy Holland, Terry Luttrell and Lee Holland.
Honorary pallbearers were the Sanctuary Sunday School class taught by R.J. Byrd.
