Douglas Anderson Gentry
1929 - 2002
AMHERST - Douglas Anderson Gentry, 73, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in Littlefield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Cabellos, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield.
Mr. Gentry was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Asher, Okla. He had lived in several Texas Panhandle communities where he was employed as a cowboy on ranches and feedlots.
He enjoyed the outdoors and working with cattle. He moved to Amherst in July 1994 where he married Dorthea Nichols on Sept. 23, 1994. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Gentry; and a sister, Aline Hough.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Helen Looney of Stinnett, and Linda McConnell and LeAnn Clark, both of Hereford; a stepson, Larry Nichols of Ransom Canyon; a stepdaughter, Joyce Hart of Amherst; two brothers, Ray Gentry of Ekalaka, Mont., and Roy Gentry of Elmore City, Okla.; three sisters, Christine Breashears of Shawnee, Okla., Pauline Nowlin of Holdenville, Okla., and Maxine Melton of Wewoka, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Cody Conaway Memorial Scholarship Fund at H&H Credit Union in Stinnett.
