Stratford--Services for J.L. "Buster Wood, 76 Stratford, at 10a.m. Tuesday at Free Will Baptist Church, Stratford, the Rev. Lewis Perry officiating. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery.
Mr. Wood died Feb. 17, 2002, at Ada. He was born Feb. 13, 1926, at Yeager, to Lewis and Lillie Mae Wood.
He married Wilma Masters at Stratford, July 11, 1945. He was a power line construction worker. He owned and operated a gas station, worked for a gas company, and was a television repairman.
He lived in the Stratford area all his life. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church. He was a justice of the peace, a little league umpire, retired fireman, and served as chief for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, member of Stratford Masonic Lodge 118, and Stratford American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the home; a daughter, Donna Kaye Ashley, Ada; a brother, Oal "Toot" Wood, Seminole; two sisters, Lorene Bratcher, Ada, and Clasteen Wood, Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Bearers are Bill Drake, Don Tucker, Marty Turner, Gary Burnett, Charley Burnett, and Butch Bradley. Honorary bearers are Bill Medlock, Bill Cloar, Carl Oats and Reagan Hightower.
Pickard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
