Joan [Robinson] Beavers Astwood
March 19, 1926 ~ December 7, 2019


Joan Beavers Astwood of Norman, formerly of Maysville was born on March 19, 1926 in Maysville to Frank and Sarah Ona (Goodner) Robinson. She passed from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years.

Joan was longtime resident of Maysville and a 1944 graduate of Maysville High School. She lived in Maysville for many years before moving to Norman in 2009.

She married her first husband, Reuben Beavers on October 28, 1944 and to this union three children were born.

She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family and always enjoyed getting to spend time with them.

Joan enjoyed working as a sales associate for Walmart and the relationships she made while working there.

She was an excellent seamstress and crocheted beautiful afghans. She loved spending time with all her sisters.

After Reuben’s death Joan married Charles Eric Astwood, Jr in 2001.

Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved her church and church family. She always like to help with Vacation Bible School.

She will be dearly missed by her family.

Her survivors include her children, Larry Beavers of Maysville, Steven Beavers of Norman, and Cheryl Rogers of Oklahoma City. Brothers: Donald Robinson of Georgia and Howard Robinson of Texas. Seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sarah Robinson; husbands, Reuben Beavers and Charles Astwood, Jr.; brothers, F. J., Charles, J.W. “Buck”, Willie, Johnny, Junior Robinson, and infant Harold Robinson; sisters, Doris Massey, Juanita Hodge, Betty English Harlan, and Lavon Smith.

Funeral services will be held at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville. Burial will be under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
