Funeral service for Raymond Austin Thompson age 92, of Alex, Oklahoma, will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday August 7, 2006 at the New Home Full Gospel Church in Dibble, Oklahoma.
Raymond Austin Thompson was born August 6, 1913 at Roff, Oklahoma. He died Friday August 4, 2006 at his home.
He was the son of Martin and Donnie [Brown] Thompson. They preceded him in death.
Raymond spent his young life around Statford and Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Raymond and Mary Jewel Tillery were married June 29th, 1942 in Chickasha.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart, three battles stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He spent most of his military time in the European Conflict.
Raymond had lived in the Alex area for 57 years. He was a dairy farmer for 37 years. After he retired, he continued to farm and raise stock cattle.
He was preceded in death by one son: Otis Thompson, one daughter, Joy Anetta Barker, three brothers: Ray Thompson, Tommie Thompson and Clarence Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jewel Thompson of the home in Alex; one son: Charles Thompson and wife Zillah of Alex; two daughters: Melba Gibson of Evanston, Wyoming; Rayma Kay Mink and husband Jack of Blanchard; one brother: C. A. Thompson and wife Betty of Ada; one sister: Wanda Roper and husband Dennis of Sterling; one stepsister: Ova Johnson and husband Earl of Chickasha; seven grandsons: Randy and Brenda Milk of Alex; Ricky and Shelly Mink of Cement; Travis
and Kerri Tindle of Edmond; Trevor and Aimee Tindle of Tulsa; Brandon Tindle of Edmond; Brian and Maria Thompson of Alex; and Brent Thompson of Alex; eight great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery near Maysville, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha.
