Zion Lutheran Cemetery


Celebration of Life service for Irene M. Reinhardt, 84, of Enid, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont, with the Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairmont, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Ladusau-Evans.

Irene was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Lahoma, Okla., to Ole and Mary Nolting Frey and passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Irene was raised in the Lahoma community, graduating from Lahoma High School in 1947. She attended college in Winfield, Kan., receiving her teaching degree. She received her master’s degree from Phillips University.

She married Harry J. Reinhardt on Sept. 6, 1953, in Lahoma. He passed away Feb. 4, 1997.

Irene’s teaching career started in San Antonio, Texas, at Mt. Olive Lutheran School before coming back to Breckinridge and taught at Immanuel Lutheran School. Irene taught 24 years for Enid Public Schools at Roosevelt and Garfield Elementary as a reading specialist.

Irene was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, where she was a member of LWML and the choir; she was a member of OEA, Garfield County Retired Educators and Beta Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Iota.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Diane Gordon and husband Dave of Castle, Okla.; son, Steve Reinhardt of Highland Village, Texas; two granddaughters, LaChelle Speaker and Gabrielle Reinhardt; grandson, Carson Reinhardt; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Caydence and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, a grandson, Chad Gordon, and daughter-in-law, Rise Reinhardt. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
