A funeral service for Lois Mae Deckman will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church Fairmont with Rev. Mark Blakeman and Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Fairmont under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Lois was born in Guymon, OK, on May 25, 1942, to Albert and Guilia (Gaddy) Heimsoth and passed away February 5, 2021, at the Golden Oaks Nursing Home. She was raised on a farm north of Guymon with the exception for three years the family spent in southeast Kansas near Iola. She graduated from Guymon High School in 1960. Lois attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1963 as a Registered Nurse. Lois worked in St. Louis for a short period then returning to Guymon working as an RN in the hospital.

Lois married Norman Deckman on August 15, 1964, in Guymon. Lois and Norm spent the next three years in the Army in Stuttgart, Germany, where their first son was born. They returned to the United States in September 1967 and she began working at the hospitals in Hugoton, Liberal, Lawrence, KS, Waynoka, Alva, and Enid, OK. While living in Waynoka, Lois completed her BS degree at NWOSU, Alva. In 1984, Lois began work as a public health nurse at the Garfield County Health Department where she worked for 23 years, retiring in 2007 as a District Nurse Supervisor for the Oklahoma State Health Department. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont.

Lois and Norm were blessed with three sons Jeff, Mike and Matt.

She is survived by her husband, Norm of the home, three sons, Jeff Deckman and wife Dana of Abilene, TX, Mike Deckman and fiancé Traci Bishard of Helena, OK, Matt and wife Leanna of Yukon, OK, and six grandchildren, and three brothers; Emmett and wife Maria Heimsoth of Chapel Hill, TX, Larry and wife Carol Heimsoth of Amarillo, TX, and Dennis and wife Diane Heimsoth of Guymon, OK and several other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Betty and Nadine.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Pre School with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
