Leon Ray Meyer
March 16, 1930 - September 13, 2022

A Christian funeral for Leon R. Meyer, age 92, of Fairmont, will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with Rev. Mark Blakeman officiating and Pastor Timothy Dorsch assisting. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. There will be no scheduled visitation.

Leon was born to Herman and Tillie (Niehus) Meyer in Oklahoma City on March 16, 1930. Leon attended Zion Lutheran School of Fairmont and graduated from Garber High School. After service in the Army where he was stationed in Germany, he met and married Annabell Schroeder. To this union, two daughters were born, Cheryl and Joyce. Leon worked in the oil fields, Boeing in Wichita, KS, Failings and Champlin Refinery in Enid. He also served one term as a Garfield County Commissioner. Leon's hobby was raising and showing poultry. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Meyer of Mulvane, Kansas, and husband Richmond Polwort, and Joyce Stowers and husband Gary of El Reno; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife Annabell, his parents, and one brother.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church general fund or Camp Lutherhoma.
