He is survived by his wife, Ann Welty of the home; sons, Richard (Rick) Welty and wife Yumiko of Boulder, Colo., and David Welty and wife Kimberly of Oakland, Calif.; his daughter, Laney Ketchum, granddaughter Kara Ketchum, and her father Dallas Ketchum, all of Durant, Okla.

Ann graduated from High School in San Leandro, California in 1945 and attended Merritt Business College in Oakland, California.

Shortly thereafter, she travelled alone by train from California to Austin, Texas to live with her older brother Weldon Page and his family, and to take a job with the Texas Teacher Retirement System. She later became a secretary in the office of the Dean of Engineering at the University of Texas. It was there she met the man of her dreams, Richard O. While in Bartlesville she was active in many volunteer activities such as the Cheery Cherry Ladies at Jane Phillips Hospital, she served as president of the League of Women Voters, and was active as a den mother in Cub Scouts. Ann loved to play bridge and mahjong with her friends and was an animal lover, often stopping to help injured animals and righting turtles when she found them on their backs. She particularly loved cats.
