White Cemetery


Hunter – Funeral for Adelle Hunt, 88, who died early Sunday in an Enid hospital following an extended illness, will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Hunter Christian Church. The Rev. William Carson, minister, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the White Cemetery at Hunter under direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Garber.

Miss Hunt was born September 11, 1890, a twin of Adrian Hendrick, also of Hunter who died February 23, 1929. At the age of three, the twins moved with their parents to Cashion where they lived until moving to a claim southwest of Hunter where they lived until the death of their parents in 1896 and 1897. At that time they returned to Cashion to live with grandparents. At the age of 14, they moved back to Hunter to reside with a sister. They had lived in the Hunter area since that time.

Miss Hunt attended Phillips University and Central State University where she received her degree. She had taught school 43 years in this area, having taught at Garfield grade school in Enid for over 30 years. She was a member of the Christian Church and Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a lifetime member of the Sons and Daughters of Cherokee Strip and OEA.

Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Cecil (Myra) Schultz, Ponca City, and Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Hendrick, Enid; two great – nieces and one great – nephew.

Beside her twin sister, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
