OBITUARY
Charles Albert Payne was born near Seneca, LaSalle county, Ill., November 10, 1866, and was married to Miss Artelia Brooks in March 1889. To this union was born ten children. His wife and three children preceding him in death.
He leaves to mourn his death five daughters - Mrs. Viola Snyder, Mrs. Mabel Mikkelsen, Mrs. Emily Dick, Miss Eloise Payne of the home and Mrs. Levesther Sills; two sons, Mr. Wilbur Payne and Mr. Frank Payne of the home; three sisters and one brother and a host of relatives and friends.
He came to Saunders county, Nebr., with his parents when just a lad, moving to Gage county, Nebr., a few years later where he grew to manhood. In the summer of the same year he filed off on a claim near Kingfisher, Okla. In March of 1902 he moved to Garfield county, settling on a farm in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.
He united with the Pleasant Valley church soon after locating on that farm, living a consistent Christian and departed this life August 13, 1919, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 3 days.
