CHILD FATALLY INJURED

Audine Lavern, the little five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Henneke, died last Friday night at about 9 o'clock following an accident the morning before in which she was fatally injured by being drawn into the spreading cylinder of a manure spreader. The teeth of the cylinder injured her about the stomach so severely that the best of surgical attention was unavailing.

The accident occurred while Mr. Henneke was returning from a field with the little girl and her three year old brother riding on the machine with him. After opening a gate, he started up the team and the little boy threw the machine in gear unexpectedly. Mr. Henneke stopped the machine at once but the unfortunate child had been so close that she had been drawn against the revolving cylinder almost as quickly as the horses started.

She was rushed to an Enid hospital where the surgeons from the start gave her but slight chances for recovery.

The father and mother; one brother, Dale, aged 3; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Henneke, of Enid; besides other relatives are left to mourn the untimely death of this little one.

A short prayer service was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The body was then taken to the Methodist church at Waukomis for the funeral service which was attended by a very large crowd. Interment was made in Waukomis cemetery.
