Sunnyside Cemetery


A Celebration of Life for James L. "Jim" Yell is 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at the Community Bible Church in Green Valley, with Pastor Bill Smith officiating.. Interment follows in the Sunnyside Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jim was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Sweetwater, the son of Oscar and Capitola Yell, and passed away Feb. 19, 2017, at his residence. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Betty Richardson and to this union four children were born. He then married Maxine Corbett and she preceded him in death. He was one of the first employees at Advance Meat Company, which became Advance-Pierre Foods, until his retirement. He was a member of the Community Bible Church. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and arts and crafts. Jim spent a lot of time on his computer always wanting to learn something new. Jim would then share that knowledge with family and friends. He loved birds and especially enjoyed watching the eagles and their nestlings. He will be remembered as a strong Christian and a wonderful role model.

Survivors include two daughters, Carla Estes and husband Randy of Enid, Cristi Power of Enid, two sons, Jim Yell and his wife Cathy of Delaware, Rockie Yell and his wife Jackie of Coffeyville, Kan., ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, five step-children and their families.

He was also preceded in death by parents and two sisters, a grandson and a son-in-law.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ross Hospice, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the funds.
