Mary Elizabeth MIDDLETON LINDLEY
Mary E. Middleton was born in Shelby Co. IL March 30, 1840 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Huffer, Jan. 15, 1927 at the age of 86 years, 9 mo. and 15 days.
While still a girl she united with the Baptist Church and ever after clung to the faith of her girlhood.
In Oct. 1856 she married William Lindley. To this union was born ten children, six girls and four boys, all whom grew to maturity. Two , Charles who died 33 years ago, and Molly Gingrey, who died six years ago preceded her in death. There remain Margaret Slimp, 69 years old, Joseph Lindley, 66 ; Della Miller, 61; Wm. Lindley, 59 ; Ella Huffer, 57; Lucy Tennyson, 55; Henry Lindley, 49; and Jessie Harmon, 45.
There are forty-four grandchildren and fifty-four great grandchildren.
In June of 1926 she was taken with increasing weakness and had, up until the time of her death been confined to her bed, having been partially paralyzed during this time. She was patient and uncomplaining during her whole life, bearing with Christain foritude the burdens of service to her family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Christain Church here Sunday at 2 O'clock pm. F. A. Wellman, pastor, delivered the funeral sermon. Buriel was made in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Lindley was the daughter of Russell and Margaret DENTON MIDDLETON and married William LINDLEY in Shelby Co. IL on Oct. 30, 1856.
