Sunnyside Cemetery


MRS. ELIZABETH GRIMES DIES
Mrs. Elizabeth Grimes, aged 85 years, 3 days, died at her home here Monday at 11 a.m. following a lingering illness of many months.
Mrs. Grimes was one of the pioneer settlers of this section having lived here and three miles south of town for many years.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the pastor, Mrs. William Bovel. A large crowd attended the services.
Interment was made in Sunnyside cemetery beside the grave of her husband, who died two years ago this month at the age of 88 years, 3 days.

Elizabeth Duncan was born Nov. 27th, 1840, in Ohio. She married Stephen G. Grimes in 1860. To this union was born seven children, 4 daughters and 3 sons: William L. Grimes, of Lahoma; Stephen G. Grimes of Laverne; John P. Grimes, who departed this life December 13, 1914; Mrs. Ida Newton, Dighton, Ks.; Mrs. Florence Gren, Duquoin, Ks.; Mrs. Mary E. Townsend, Liberal, Ks.; and Mrs. Clara Owens, Anderson, Mo.
The family moved to Oklahoma in a very early day, to a farm three miles south of Lahoma. At this place she resided until a few years ago. Since the death of her husband, which occurred nearly two years ago, she has lived with her son William.
Early in life she gave her heart to her Lord and has lived by His Grace all these years in the service of her Master. She departed this life Nov. 30, 1925, age 85 years, 3 days.
She is mourned by her relatives and a host of friends.
