Terrye Jean (Johnson) Metscher, 59, of Covington, Okla., died Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Funeral service for Terrye will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Covington, with Pastor Chris Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, east of Covington. Service is under the direction of Henninger Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family is 6-8 p.m. today, May 22, at Henninger-Hinson Chapel.

Terrye was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Kingfisher, Okla., to Elsie Ann and Verdean George Johnson.

She graduated from Cashion High School in 1973. She held a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1977, in home economics, and had a master’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in elementary education.

She taught home economics at Carmen-Dacoma High School.

Charles and Terrye were united in marriage on Oct. 14, 1978, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Covington, and active in LWML (Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League) and Ladies Aide.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend to many. She devoted much of her time to her church and substituting at Covington-Douglas schools. More than anything she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending Covington Douglas School events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, numerous aunts and uncles and an infant daughter.

Terrye is survived by her husband, Charles of the home; two children, Leslie Seaton and husband Darrick of Springdale, Ark., and Richard Metscher and wife Kelly of Weatherford, Okla; two sisters, Sherrye VanOsdol and husband Kelly of Edmond, Okla., and Candace Johnson of Kingfisher, Okla.; one brother, Randy Johnson and wife Lavon of Kingfisher, Okla.; four grandchildren, Addy and Dez Seaton of Springdale, Ark., and Rhett and Levi Metscher of Weatherford, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in honor of Terrye may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Covington, Okla.
