Jimma died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. She was born in Enid, Okla., on May 25, 1929. Her parents were the late Maynard and Frances Drake. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947 and graduated from Amarillo Junior College in 1949.
She married the love of her life, William Neathery Lampe, on Sept. 2, 1949. They were married for 54 years. The family attended First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. She participated in choir and handbells for more than 50 years and was in the Dorothy Parker Circle. Jimma was a 50-year member of Chapter CM of PEO. She served as president of the chapter and the PEO Council. She was also active in Lawyers' Wives.
Jimma loved her family and friends and never passed up an opportunity to do a kind deed for others. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.
The family would like to express its gratitude to BSA Hospice, and especially to Angels in Charge for the love and care they gave to Jimma, and to Dr. Pillai and Dr. Patel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steven Drake Lampe.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Lampe Ingram and Sally Lampe Boyd; and five grandchildren, Steven Blake Boyd, Kelly Blair Boyd, Austin William Ingram, Stephanie Anne Ingram and Leslie Leigh Ingram who lovingly called her "Jim Jim."
The family suggests memorials be to the Steven D. Lampe Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
