A Celebration of Life service for Verda Viola Young, age 89, of Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. David Shaw officiating. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Verda was born June 2, 1928, in Bluff City, KS, to Guy F. Robinson and Viola E. McCray, and passed away early Monday, January 22, 2018, in the Fairview Fellowship Home. Verda married Jacob "Jake" L. Young in 1953, in San Antonio, TX, and he passed away January 2, 2013. She was a housewife and later worked for Hammer-Williams Mini-Mart in Carmen for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Carmen.

She is survived by her children, Larry Young of Okeene, Rod Young and wife Robin of El Reno, Mitzi Edster and husband Mark of Carmen, and Stacy Sheik of Fairview; ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Bridgette Dawson.

Verda was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Edna McCray, and two brothers, Lloyd and Harold Robinson.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Lupus Division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
