Mrs. Ruth E. Young
December 18, 1920 - June 28, 2012

The funeral services for Mrs. Ruth E. Young, 91 who died on June 28, 2012 will be Saturday June 30, 2012 at 10am in Memorial Park with Chaplin Ron Stone officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born December 18, 1920, in Dallas Texas, the only child of W. Wesley and Jennie Deen Rogers.

In 1925 the family moved to New Orleans, LA, where she entered school. In 1927 she moved with the family to Toledo, Ohio, where she completed elementary and high school, then for a short time she attended Toledo University. In 1939 she returned to Dallas where she married Fred A. Shine, Jr. On August 3, 1947 she and Roy O. Young were married in Dallas. They lived in Amarillo, TX, for several years, then in Ponca City. OK, for five years before moving to Enid, OK, in June, 1960.

She was active in club work for many years serving as president and secretary for the Enid Toastmistress Club, president and secretary for the Enid Writers Club, president and secretary for the Truitters Poetry Club, and was secretary of the Enid Shriners Ladies for two years, and a member of the Don Blanding Poetry Circle.

She is survived by one son, Fred A. Shine, of Dallas, one stepson Raymond W. Young of Richardson TX, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and four step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, on April 27, 1987, her parents, one great granddaughter, one stepson and one step-grandson.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
